Towards the end of 2008, we gave substantial coverage to a truly heinous crime, the murder of Lila Meizell, in a post-forgery rampage of brutal beating and a burned-alive arson of an elderly woman.
Today, the Washington Post reports the guilty plea of one Jose Alvarado, to murder. Alvarado's wife, Ana Rodas, plead guilty to a lesser charge. Alvarado's plea comes in advance and will certainly speed the judgement in the trial, scheduled for the fall, of Ramon Alvarado, AKA "el Garrobo" or "the Iguana". As illegal aliens, once time is served, deportation is assured.
Moving right down the page, the Post further reports the 10 most-congested intersections in Montgomery County, and then goes on to point out that transportation authorities in the region are now far less worried about congestion than they are about patching concrete, which is described by Virginia Transportation Secretary Pierce R. Homee as "a ticking time bomb".
